Getting started

Just Share turns something your agent made into a link anyone can open in a browser.

Ask your agent to share a file or folder. It sends the files to Just Share and gives you a justshare.sh link to pass on. Whoever opens the link needs no account and nothing to install.

Share your first file

Before you start, connect your agent and confirm it appears on the account site’s Agents page. You also need a file or folder on your computer that the agent can read. For a site or prototype, share the built output with an index.html, not the project root. A single file can open directly. To browse a set of photos or other media, have your agent include an index or gallery page and choose it as the entry file; see Prepare a folder.

Your plan decides how long the link lasts, so the prompt differs slightly.

On Free, links expire automatically after seven days, and you don’t set the expiry. For a built site:

Share ./dist with Just Share. Open index.html first.

For a single file:

Share ./report.pdf with Just Share.

On Paid, a new link needs an explicit expiry, so say which one you want:

Share ./dist with Just Share. Open index.html first, and make the link expire in 7 days.
Share ./report.pdf with Just Share and make the link expire in 7 days.

The agent replies with a justshare.sh link. Open it yourself to check that it shows what you meant to share, then send it to whoever should see it. Keep the link and the conversation: you use them later to update or delete the share.

If the agent says it can’t read the file, or can’t send it, see Connect an agent.

Who does what

You and your agent. You manage links by asking your agent: share this, update that link, delete the old one. There is no list or dashboard of your links, so keep the links your agent gives you.

The person you send the link to. They open the link and see what you shared, in a slim bar under the Just Share name. They don’t need an account. Anyone who holds the link can open it, so treat it as public, not private.

The account site. You use it to sign in, approve an agent, choose a plan and pay. Your agent can’t buy a plan for you.

What to expect

  • Your agent has to be able to read the files you want to share. The connector only receives the files your agent sends; it doesn’t get your conversation or the rest of your project.
  • Free allows 50 MB per file and 500 MB across your account, and each link expires seven days after its latest successful publish or update. Paid costs $9 USD a month and allows 100 MB per file and 20 GB in total, with expiry you choose. See Account for plans and billing.
  • Just Share serves your files as they are and doesn’t run your code on its servers. What a recipient sees still depends on their browser and on the format of the file.
  • Earlier versions of a link are kept only on Paid, and only if the agent turns history on.

Where to go next

  • What you can share: the kinds of files that work, and what belongs on a host instead.
  • Agents: how an agent connects, what you approve, and the connector’s tools.
  • Share, update and delete: what happens to a link over its life, and what happens when something fails.
  • Account: signing in, plans and billing.
